Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated Construction Layout Party Chief to grow with our collaborative team and work on a variety of projects. In this role, you will work in the field collecting and processing Geodetic Control, Boundary, Topography, laser scanning and other tasks associated with construction sites, and construction layout. Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit and other drafting and coordinate geometry software would be expected.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Navigate to remote stream sites, sometimes hiking several miles, carrying survey equipment, using GPS and topographic maps;
- Maintain rigorous data collection and assessment protocols; identify and report any concerns to supervisor;
- Assists in the preparation of data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys;
- Performs surveying tasks on assigned projects and verifies the accuracy of field survey data and required applications;
- Creation of stakeout data for construction layout;
- Read metes/bounds descriptions based on the Surveyor’s final boundary solution;
- Field work in support of construction activity;
- Working closely with other surveyors, engineers, technicians, project managers and support staff;
- Compile and process geographic data;
- Reviews and processes the results of field surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features;
- Perform layout computations for construction staking;
- Analyze/Interpret data, survey calculations, legal descriptions;
- Regular communication with project team members;
- Prepare base survey mapping;
- Maintain internal/external client relations
- Work with Machine Control
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D;
- Travel to job sites as needed;
- Microsoft Office Suite;
- Interest in learning the art of Construction Surveying through hands-on experience;
- Ability to quickly acquire skills and learn new techniques;
- Knowledge of surveying terminology and operation of surveying equipment (total stations, GPS, and levels);
- Ability to think creatively, keep an open mind, and take constructive criticism;
- Additional software experience, preferred, but not required: Plant3D, Infraworks, Autoturn, CADEarth, Revit.
- Willing to learn Machine Control in using GPS and Total Station Control Systems.
Education and Experience/Preferred:
- Associates degree in Land Surveying/Civil Engineering Technology, CAD or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- 3 years of office survey experience using AutoCAD/Revit or similar coordinate geometry software.
