Maintenance Mechanic (Produce Facility)
Position Overview : We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at our produce facility. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of machinery and equipment, with a focus on adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The ideal candidate will possess at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in a food company, demonstrate proficiency in handling up to 480 volts and 3-phase motors, and have expertise in conveyor belts and stainless steel welding / fabrication. The Maintenance Mechanic will be an integral part of the facility's maintenance team, assisting in various tasks around the facility as needed, including racks, carts, desks, offices, and other responsibilities.
Responsibilities :
Machinery Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Adherence to GMPs : Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) strictly during all maintenance tasks to maintain the highest levels of sanitation and safety.
Electrical Expertise : Demonstrate proficiency in handling up to 480 volts and 3-phase motors, troubleshoot electrical issues, and perform repairs safely and effectively.
Conveyor Systems : Maintain and repair conveyor belts to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of produce throughout the facility.
Stainless Steel Welding / Fabrication : Utilize welding and fabrication skills to repair and maintain stainless steel components and structures within the facility.
Team Collaboration : Work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to address maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
Facility Assistance : Assist with various facility-related responsibilities, such as repairing racks, carts, desks, offices, and other equipment as required.
Shift Schedule : This position is for the 3rd shift, with working hours from 9 : 00 pm to 5 : 30 am, five days a week. Days off will be determined by the manager.
Training Period : Upon being offered the position, the Maintenance Mechanic will undergo a two-week training period on the 1st shift, from 5 : 00 am to 1 : 45 pm, to familiarize themselves with the facility layout, machines, and equipment.
Qualifications :
Experience : Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a food company or a related industry.
Technical Skills : Proficient in handling up to 480 volts and 3-phase motors. Experience in conveyor belt maintenance, stainless steel welding, and fabrication is essential.
GMP Knowledge : Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and ability to implement them during all maintenance activities.
Problem-Solving : Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
Team Player : Capable of collaborating with a diverse team, communicating effectively, and working towards common goals.
Physical Stamina : Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and standing for extended periods.
Flexibility : Willingness to adapt to a changing work schedule and assist with various facility responsibilities when required.
