Job Summary: The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient movement and storage of materials, ensuring that the production areas are supplied with the necessary materials in a timely manner. This role involves working closely with the expeditor and production planner to support the smooth operation of the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, verify, and inventory materials and supplies.
- Move materials to production areas using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Ensure materials are stored in designated areas and are easily accessible for production use.
- Collaborate with the expeditor and production planner to maintain an accurate inventory of materials.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to the production planner.
- Assist in cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a material handler or in a similar role.
- Experience working with an expeditor or production planner is required.
- Proficiency in operating material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
