Job Summary
Position: Director of Nursing
Clinically Supervised by: Medical Director
Administratively Supervised by: Executive Director
Individuals Supervised: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, and Medical Technicians
Employment Status: Full-time, Exempt
Purpose
To provide compassionate care to individuals suffering from addiction and mental health issues. The Director of Nursing will oversee and supervise a Nursing Department that adheres to nursing care that engenders a sense of trust and respect for the profession. The Director of Nursing will provide oversight and supervision to RN’s and LPN’s.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Registered Nurse with Bachelor Degree
in related filed.
Experience: Previous Director of Nursing experience in a substance abuse and psychiatric treatment setting.
License and/or Certifications: Unrestricted license in the State of Practice or compact license
Current BLS Certification required.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for all nursing services provided to patients receiving services
- Create and maintain policies and procedures that will ensure optimum patient care
- Oversee and supervise nurse managers, nurse supervisors, and nursing staff, Registered Dietician/LN, in a twenty-four-hour setting
- Available to staff at all times except when alternative arrangements have been implemented and approved by the Executive Director
- Responsible for oversight, maintenance, and ensuring adequate inventory of all medical and nursing equipment and supplies
- Responsible for ordering and ensuring adequate supply of all medications on the formulary
- Ensuring adequate staff coverage twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and overseeing the recruitment and retention of employees
- Evaluate work performance of staff and perform staff evaluations as required per policy
- Attend daily clinical treatment team meetings
- Follow all policies and procedures of the organization
- Participate in Performance Improvement Projects
- Attend all Committee Meetings and other meetings as warranted
- Supports a system that adheres to best practice patient care in a safe and supportive environment
- Ensure Nursing/Medical documentation, Medical Assessments, Progress Notes and other medical documents are entered correctly in the Medical Record and meet documentation time-line standards, according to DCF, TJC and Payer standards
- Complete periodic Med Pass observations to ensure accuracy and consistency of process
- Schedule nutritional consultations, with staff RD/LN, as requested by the Medical Director, Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Staff
- Provide admission reviews for potential admissions into substance abuse/mental health program
- Assists with formulating and leading patient safety standards, creating protocols and identifying facility ligature risks
- Available to be on-call 24/7 and respond to concerns in a timely manner
- Provide training and supervision to supervisees and other team members
- Maintain professionalism both in conduct and in dress attire at all times
- Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPPA requirements as per policy
- Maintain the upmost ethical behavior with colleagues and clients to ensure the highest level of integrity in all work performed
Job Requirements
- Proficient in the English language, both in writing and speaking and able to communicate clearly to staff, clients, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Registered in Nurse in the State of Florida and possesses a Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- Knowledge of chemical dependency disorders and mental health disorders
- Knowledge of alcohol and drugs commonly abuse, as well as, the physical, emotional, and psychological impact from abusing substances
- Knowledge of 12-Step Recovery Program
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction including confidentiality, patient rights, ethics, and discrimination
- Experience and skills in the use of electronic medical records (EMR)
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
- Ability to work as part of a team

- Knowledge of social and cultural influences that impact mental health
- Maintain all licenses and certifications as required of the position

Pay: $95,507.00 - $110,000.00 per year
