What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse (RN) - PICC/Infusion, Full-Time varied shifts/rotating weekends position at Flagler Hospital Inc?
Delivers professional, specialized nursing care related to IV Therapy for the comfort and well being of patients; Utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide care documentation and teaching related to IV Therapy needs and by implementing medically prescribed interventions related to IV Therapy. Collaborates with other professional disciplines related to IV Therapy to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
- Perform accurate and complete assessments on patients within established time frames; requests consult as indicated. Establishes and updates a patient plan of care based on periodic assessments.
- Insert multiple types of venous access (i.e. PICC, midline, extended IV, etc.). Monitor ALL central lines for compliance, complications and early removal. Address ALL central line / IV complications (DVTS, Phlebitis, etc.) and implement appropriate care.
- Assess limited access patients upon admission and recommend / implement appropriate vascular access needed / required. Assist with difficult IV insertions (CT, Infusions, etc.)
- Obtains and verifies consent forms.
- Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening emergencies, including the administration of emergency drugs, and defibrillator or other emergency treatment.
- Assists with providing for the physical comfort and safety of patients (i.e. linen changes, feeding and toileting). Provides and documents patient education based on assessed needs.
- Demonstrates the proper procedure for obtaining, charging for, and returning supplies/equipment and maintains adequate supply levels through the use of accurate inventory control.
- Supervises and gives assignments to the staff assigned to his/her patients.
Experience
Required- 1 year(s): RN IV Therapy
- PICC experience preferred
- Post-Employment: BLS, provided by American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire.Post-Employment: Chemotherapy Certification required within 6-months of hire date.Post-Employment: PICC Certification required within 6-months of hire if committed to perform PICC insertion.

Required- Associates or better in Nursing or related field
