Summary
Assists patients with healthcare needs, activities of daily living and provides bedside care, including basic nursing procedures, all under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). In this role, the Patient Care Technician also functions as a phlebotomist by performing blood collection by venipuncture or dermal puncture, as appropriate.
Skills and Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of principles of patient hygiene, comfort and safety measures (will be required to pass competencies); experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, or phlebotomist helpful. Good oral and written communication skills required.

Additional Information: Requires State Certified Nursing Assistant and minimum one year recent hands-on patient care experience in a hospital or other medical facility other than Home Health; 2nd semester RN student (completed C.N.A. skills competency), OR Graduate Nurse. Successful completion of Phlebotomy course strongly preferred.
Post-Employment: BLS, provided by the American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire.
