Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Business Analysis and Digital Integration will join Flagship IT, reporting to the Senior Director, IT Business Relationship Management & Head of Digital Pioneering Medicines. This role will serve as a critical link between Flagship’s Digital teams and Pioneering Medicines (PM), working closely with research, clinical, and operational teams to align digital initiatives with PM’s strategic goals.
The individual will own the support of digital program operations for PM and collaborate extensively with peers across Flagship IT, including Enterprise Applications, Digital Science, Infrastructure & Operations, and Information Security, to deliver integrated digital solutions that support innovation in drug development, operational efficiency, and decision-making. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge technology, data science, and life sciences innovation. The Associate Director will play a pivotal role in managing business relationships, defining business requirements, and driving digital project execution for Pioneering Medicines. As a trusted partner to PM, this role will support functions such as Research, Development, Explorations, Operations and G&A teams, ensuring that digital investments deliver measurable value and enhance PM’s ability to bring life-changing therapies to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
IT Business Relationship Management
- Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders and IT/Pioneering Intelligence teams to align priorities.
- Acts as “scrum master”; develops and maintains a backlog, prioritizing features and enhancements that maximize the impact of IT, informatics, automation, and business intelligence tools.
- Identify and assess opportunities for digital innovations that enhance operational efficiency, data utilization, and drug development capabilities.
- Monitor and evaluate digital investments, ensuring they align with organizational goals and deliver value.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate scientific and operational needs into detailed requirements for digital solutions.
- Analyze existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose digital enhancements or automation opportunities.
- Develop and manage functional specifications for COTS and custom software across business systems, R&D systems, and analytics; e.g. business intelligence, AI.
- Maintain a backlog of digital needs and prioritize initiatives based on their value and feasibility.
- Manage key initiatives and projects for system and informatics solutions.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between technical development, user needs, and regulatory compliance.
- Establish and maintain project governance, drafting business cases & project charters, ensuring milestones are met, risks are mitigated, and outcomes are documented.
- Support pilots and prototypes, such as predictive analytics for drug discovery or clinical operations, and transition successful pilots into scalable solutions.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, life sciences, engineering, business, or a related field – or commensurate experience in lieu of a degree.
- 7 years of experience in IT business analysis, business relationship management, or project delivery within life sciences, healthcare, or a related industry.
- Portfolio of digital projects implemented successfully whereby the candidate led and owed the business analysis discovery (user story generation), requirements gathering, and traceability.
- Demonstrated knowledge of life sciences operations and R&D processes, including translational sciences, clinical operations, drug development, and data management.
- Experience managing digital solution lifecycles, including project planning, budgeting, vendor management, and resource allocation.
- Ability to analyze complex workflows, identify inefficiencies, and drive digital transformation through automation and system enhancements.
- Strong understanding of digital product management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, SAFe) and experience leading cross-functional teams in implementing IT solutions.
- General understanding of data management principles, including analytics platforms, cloud computing, and AI/ML-driven insights.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across diverse teams.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment, engaging with IT, business leaders, and external partners to deliver high-impact solutions.
- Certifications in one of the following:
- Business Analysis: CBAP, PMI-PBA, or IIBA-AAC
- Data Management: CDMP, CIMP, or AWS/Azure Data Certifications
- Business Intelligence & Analytics: CBIP, CAP, or Google Data Analytics
- Certifications in Agile Project Management: PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Agilist (SA), or Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM)
