Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven, and visionary leader to serve as Senior Director of Product Innovation. This key leadership role will be responsible for defining and executing a long-term strategy that advances breakthrough therapies, driving operational excellence, and managing a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will blend strategic foresight with hands-on execution, ensuring our innovation pipeline aligns with the organization's overarching goals while fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and bold thinking.

Leading a team of 6–8 professionals, this leader will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our innovation initiatives, integrating operational rigor, and optimizing resource allocation to accelerate discovery and development.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive innovation roadmap aligned with corporate objectives, ensuring a clear path to impact and scalability.
  • Drive operational strategy, balancing long-term vision with actionable execution plans.
  • Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to evaluate and prioritize new product opportunities, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
  • Lead and empower a team of scientists, researchers, and product managers, fostering a high-performance culture rooted in strategic thinking, innovation, and operational excellence.

Innovation & Product Development

  • Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation to early-stage validation, ensuring seamless integration into the broader development pipeline.
  • Utilize market insights, competitive intelligence, and scientific advancements to inform decision-making and strengthen the innovation pipeline.
  • Drive a culture of problem-solving and creative thinking, encouraging the exploration of novel scientific approaches to maximize patient impact.
  • Operational Excellence & Process Optimization
  • Implement best practices in project management, budgeting, and resource allocation to enhance efficiency and meet strategic milestones.
  • Establish scalable processes to accelerate discovery and development, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory considerations.
  • Continuously refine methodologies to enhance productivity and operational effectiveness, driving measurable improvements in innovation timelines and execution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with R&D, commercialization, and business strategy teams to integrate innovative concepts into the broader product portfolio.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a collaborative innovation ecosystem.
  • Effectively communicate vision, strategy, and progress to executive leadership, ensuring transparency and strategic alignment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, or a related field; MBA a minus.
  • 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or adjacent industries, with at least 5 years in a leadership role driving strategy and execution.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering innovative therapies from concept to clinical proof-of-concept or market introduction.
  • Strong operational acumen, with experience in project management, resource optimization, and execution excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long-term strategies while maintaining focus on short-term deliverables.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization.
  • Passion for innovation, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into actionable business strategies.
