The Role
FL87 is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Biomanufacturing Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) team. This position will contribute to the production of nucleic acid therapeutics. They will work cross-functionally with internal groups and external labs to advance FL87’s platform. FL87 is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Biomanufacturing Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) team. This position will contribute to the production of nucleic acid therapeutics. They will work cross-functionally with internal groups and external labs to advance FL87’s platform. Key Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be part of the team responsible for producing and characterizing nucleic acid therapeutics.
- Synthesize and purify routine nucleic acid products for preclinical studies, this includes enzymatic reactions such as in-vitro transcription and PCR amplifications and purification with TFF and/or chromatographic separations.
- Experience in preparing buffers for large scale production.
- Operate and maintain lab instruments such as AKTA purifiers, biosafety cabinets (BSC), nanodrop, pH meters, and incubators.
- Help establish and optimize nucleic manufacturing scale-up capabilities such as
- Maintain up-to-date records and communicate results to team members in written technical reports and oral presentations.
- Interpret, summarize experimental data, and maintain excellent laboratory notebooks.
- B.S. or M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 5 years (B.S.), or 3 years (M.S.) of industry experience in nucleic acid manufacturing (level adjusted according to experience)
- One or more years of experience with large scale nucleic acid production across the upstream and downstream workflow.
- One or more years of experience with AKTA chromatography systems and TFF systems.
- Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and troubleshoot.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent record-keeping and data management skills.
- The ideal candidate is adaptable, enthusiastic about new challenges, has an innate curiosity, and a passion for learning.
- Experience working in fast-paced startup environments.
- Excellent organization skills, approaching tasks with efficiency.
- Ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate scientific data.
- Ability to work independently while effectively interacting and collaborating in a team environment.
