About Our Spine Team: Dr. Ross Jones is our distinguished Spine Surgeon specializing in complex spine surgeries, bringing advanced surgical techniques to our patients. Alongside him, Dr. Marshall Meier and Dr. Nathan Swain, both PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) specialists, focus on interventional pain procedures. They provide comprehensive nonoperative treatments for acute or chronic spine and musculoskeletal injuries. Dr. Swain, with additional training in Sports Medicine, also treats a broader range of musculoskeletal injuries and utilizes ultrasound technology to diagnose pain sources and deliver targeted treatments. This multidisciplinary team’s approach combines surgical precision with advanced nonoperative methods to provide holistic patient care.

Position Highlights:

  • Surgical Assisting Role: Operate alongside Dr. Ross Jones at least once a week, assisting in spine surgeries.
  • Clinic-Based Role: On non-surgical days, provide patient care in our clinic, diagnosing and treating spine and sports-related conditions under the guidance of our Spine Team.
  • Hospital Rounds: Perform hospital rounds one weekend a month to monitor and manage post-operative care and ongoing treatments, ensuring continuity of care.

  • No Overnight Call: There are no overnight on-call responsibilities, allowing for a balanced professional life.

At Flagstaff Bone and Joint, we believe in rewarding dedication and ensuring our team is well-supported, both professionally and personally. The base salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $150,000, depending on experience, with eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus.

Requirements

  • Assist in surgical procedures and provide perioperative care.
  • Perform patient assessments, including history and physical examinations.
  • Collaborate with our Spine Team to diagnose and develop treatment plans for spine and sports-related conditions.
  • Administer treatments, manage post-surgical care, and facilitate referrals as needed.
  • Educate patients about their conditions and treatment options.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  • Participate in weekend hospital rounds as scheduled.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program with a focus on surgical care.
  • Current Arizona licensure as a PA-C.
  • National certification and current ACLS and BLS certification.
  • Documented completion of a surgical first assist program or equivalent surgical assisting experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of handling high-stress situations effectively.
