Position Summary
Responsible for prioritizing, scheduling, tracking, and communicating maintenance work.
Essential Functions
- Principal contact and liaison between the maintenance department and all associated departments plant-wide, i.e., Food Safety, Operations, Sanitation, and outside vendors.
- Review work requests from all areas of the plant to determine validity and accuracy of information, engage with maintenance leadership assigned to those specific areas to set preliminary priorities.
- Identify work orders that may require additional engineering review with the maintenance leadership.
- Escalate maintenance issues that are identified during daily pre-op that could interrupt production.
- Data entry into the maintenance software system, spare parts, drawings, maintenance manuals.
- Obtain and organize all drawings, manuals, and standardized procedures appropriate for the applicable maintenance crafts to perform the work.
- Identify and secure all parts, tools, and materials required to complete jobs through the stores system.
- Work closely and professionally with the Parts Room Manager and Maintenance Superintendents to optimize spare parts availability.
- Receive on all outside contractor labor that has been awarded. Ensure that the scope is understood, follow-up on completed work, document deficiencies and communicate to senior leadership (if any) before approval and forwarding for payment.
- Track operational reports to identify and communicate trends in downtime, production rates, and quality metrics.
- Follow up with supervisors and ensure that completed work assignments are turned in with improvement comments in a timely fashion.
- Keep accurate metrics on the performance of planning and scheduling functions and provide timely reports to maintenance leadership.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education/Experience)
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- 2-year degree/Associate’s degree preferred, or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years’ experience in responsibility for a manufacturing setting or equivalent knowledge / exposure; food processing experience a plus but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and persuade others.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and employees.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Strong personal computer skills and understanding of operational metrics and reports required; MP2 CMMS desired; CAD experience a plus. MPS/SFK equipment understanding, both mechanically and electrically strongly desired.
- SQF/HACCP certification preferred.
