Position Summary
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food production. This role ensures that production meets efficiency, cost, and safety standards while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. The manager will optimize production processes, develop staff, and foster a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and maintain production schedules to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Supervise daily manufacturing operations, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Oversee the transformation of raw materials into finished products while minimizing waste.
- Utilize data-driven insights to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce downtime.
- Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams for material flow optimization.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, FDA, USDA, SQF, and BRC food safety regulations.
- Work with Quality Assurance and R&D teams to uphold product specifications and resolve quality issues.
- Maintain strict adherence to sanitation and safety protocols.
- Hire, train, and mentor production staff, fostering a high-performance work culture.
- Conduct performance reviews and establish training programs for continuous skill development.
- Drive engagement, accountability, and collaboration among team members.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Identify and address inefficiencies in production processes.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and make data-driven decisions.
- Oversee maintenance of production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to diagnose and resolve equipment-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education/Experience)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years in food manufacturing management, including plant or production leadership.
- Strong knowledge of food processing, roasting, and packaging operations.
- Expertise in food safety regulations, HACCP, GMP, FDA/USDA, and OSHA standards.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization methodologies.
- Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office, and timekeeping systems (e.g., KRONOS).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
