What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Educator position at Flamingo Gardens?
As an environmental educator, you will be teaching students about our wildlife sanctuary, botanical gardens, the Florida Everglades and the importance of environmental awareness and conservation through in person field trips, outreach programs and virtual learning. Responsibilities also include setting up and breaking down educational materials for classes, driving the tram and providing a narrated tram tour, working with some of our ambassador animals and program development. Position could lead to full time.
The ideal candidate will be: 18 years or older with a valid Florida driver's license.
Comfortable outdoors. Field trips take place rain or shine.
Able to walk and talk for up to 4 hours a day.
Comfortable working with children of all ages and abilities.
Comfortable speaking to and leading large groups.
A team player who works well with children, teachers, coworkers and other departments.
Reliable, punctual, flexible and has good time management skills.
