PAY RANGE:
$14.00 to $15.50 per hour depending on experience

WORK SCHEDULE:
5-10 hours per week, primarily weekends and weekday evenings;
DRESS CODE:
Casual with appropriate coverage; however, when operating farm machinery and hand tools and power equipment: no loose clothing; long hair must be restrained; closed-toed shoes; any required safety equipment is provided by supervisor.

Under minimal supervision, the Campus Farm Assistant supports the Farm Manager in aspects of production on the FVCC Campus Farm. The Campus Farm Assistant, Weekend/Evening Water supports the Campus Farm Manager by tending to The FVCC Campus Farm greenhouse and field crops throughout the spring and into the summer. Tasks primarily include but are not limited to, watering greenhouse and field crops, opening and closing of high tunnels and greenhouse and ensuring facilities are appropriately closed upon leaving.

Experience working with greenhouse and field crops, nursery work, or other relatable work experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Tasks primarily include but are not limited to, watering greenhouse and field crops, opening and closing of high tunnels and greenhouse and ensuring facilities are appropriately closed upon leaving.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Water greenhouse crops using a garden hose
- Water field crops using simple irrigation systems and timers, with the possibility of watering field crops by hand as needed
- Opening or closing of greenhouse doors and high tunnels
- May perform other duties as assigned
- With The Campus Farm Manger, create a working schedule that includes evenings, weekends and non-traditional work hours
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with greenhouse and field crops, nursery work, or other relatable work experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to be flexible and work non-traditional working hours
- Ability to learn on the job, follow directions and communicate clearly with supervisor
- Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of greenhouse and field crops and the ability to make decisions independently
- Prior knowledge is preferred, but not required. Can be taught and trained on the job
- Demonstrate clear and accurate communication
- Work in an organized and efficient manner
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Have the ability to get to and from The Campus Farm independently
- This is a Heavy Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Heavy Duty involves exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds continuously to move objects.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:
- Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
- Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
- Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
- Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule, effective communication/interpersonal skills, and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
