SUMMARY
The Financial Aid Associate supports the educational goals of students that range from first-generation college students to non-traditional students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists students, parents and families as the primary point of contact for financial aid services.
- Provides support to students in the completion of FAFSA, eligibility records, and supporting documentation.
- Reviews and evaluates funding packages and related documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and fulfillment of requirements prior to processing.
- Delivers quality customer service, refers students to appropriate services, and provides resolutions to customers in a professional manner.
- Collaborates with other campus offices, including Admissions and Registration, Academic Advising, Business Office, and Human Resources to ensure coordinated delivery of student success support.
- Monitors admissions status of financial aid applicants and reviews form submissions.
- Utilizes FVCC’s student and financial aid information systems, website, and technologies. Performs administrative duties, accurate data input into information systems; maintains confidential files and reports; updates information according to policy and regulations, and maintains an accurate records to ensure compliance.
- Interprets and maintains knowledge of current federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignment
- Attends related trainings, workshops, and professional development.
- Cross trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for staff as needed.
- Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and the College.
- Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.
- Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Reports to the Financial Aid Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree AND two years of financial/administrative work experience; OR,
- High school degree or equivalent and four years or financial/administrative work experience; OR,
- An equivalent combination of higher education courses and financial/administrative work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working with financial aid programs and software.
- Experience working in higher education or public organization.

- This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
