About the Job
Title: Manager – Civil Engineering or Development Engineering
Reports To: Director - Engineering & Development
Location: New England, New York, or Colorado office preferred. Remote locations permissible provided the candidate can travel up to 10-25% of the time
Description: Responsible for leading the design and engineering activities necessary to support developing grid scale standalone energy storage projects from early-stage prospecting through Notice to Proceed, in target markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead civil and environmental engineering for the life cycle of the project; from site prospecting, conceptual design, and discretionary permitting through IFC with a focus on development engineering.
- Support project development activities in early, mid, and late stages of the project
- Manage external engineering consultants through the project development lifecycle
- Lead identification and acquisition, as applicable, of local, state and/or federal permits
- Conduct quality control for civil engineering deliverables in tandem with the development team to ensure accuracy and consistency with company and AHJ requirements
- Support the development and review of technical specification and RFP packages for EPC contractors
- Represent company with customers, landowners, state, and local officials and other stakeholders
- Support commercial and development strategy with involvement in key strategic decisions
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of five (5) of experience related to the engineering or project development of large-scale energy resources, preferably renewables and battery energy storage, or projects involving heavy civil construction
- Engineering or project development experience in NYISO or ISO-NE
- Successful track record of developing projects and leading civil engineering from inception through COD including the discretionary permitting phase
- Preference for a candidate with a Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, and Navisworks
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to self-direct, flexibility, creativity, desire to grow into additional responsibilities
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail
Compensation and Benefits
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time. Ability to work in the United States is a requirement.
