Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cloud FinOps Specialist with expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing cloud financial management, ensuring cost efficiency, and aligning cloud spending with business objectives. This role combines financial analysis, cloud cost optimization, and collaboration with technical and business teams to drive strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Cost Management & Optimization:
- Analyze AWS usage and billing data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and implement cost optimization strategies such as rightsizing, reserved instance planning, and savings plans.
- Monitor and forecast cloud expenses to ensure budget alignment.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Generate detailed cost reports and dashboards to provide insights into cloud spending trends.
- Collaborate with finance teams to align cloud budgets with organizational financial goals.
- Create projections and ROI analyses for cloud-related investments.
- Governance & Policy Implementation:
- Define and enforce cloud cost governance policies to prevent overspending and ensure compliance with internal guidelines.
- Establish tagging strategies for accurate cost allocation and chargeback processes.
- Collaboration with Teams:
- Work closely with DevOps, Engineering, and IT teams to understand cloud requirements and provide cost-effective solutions.
- Act as a liaison between technical and financial teams, ensuring clear communication about cloud costs and impacts.
- AWS Expertise:
- Utilize AWS cost management tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, AWS Trusted Advisor, and Control Tower.
- Stay updated on AWS pricing models, new services, and cost-saving features.
- Provide recommendations on architectural changes to optimize cost efficiency.
- Training & Enablement:
- Educate teams on best practices for cloud cost management and AWS resource utilization.
- Promote a culture of financial accountability within the organization.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cloud cost management, FinOps, or a related role.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AWS services and cost management tools.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture and resource management best practices.
- Experience with third-party cloud cost management platforms (e.g., CloudHealth, Apptio, or CloudCheckr).
- Familiarity with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Terraform) is a plus.
Financial Skills:
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Understanding of IT budgeting and forecasting processes.
Soft Skills:
