Position Description:
The mechanic at Flatland Energy Services, LLC will be responsible for performing a range of duties and responsibilities that can differ from day to day depending on the needs of the company. This can include anything from routine maintenance work to specialized repairs. This position reports to the Fleet Manager.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Determines vehicle or trailer condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic test, identifying worn and damaged parts focusing on safety, quality, and company up time.
- Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment. Including trouble shooting, mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic services.
- Take direction from the fleet manager to observe and listen to vehicles in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
- Perform general and detailed repair of all equipment, trucks, engines, trailers and components.
- Must be able to apply and perform preventative maintenance of light and medium duty trucks, and equipment.
- Must have knowledge of brakes, wiring, hydraulics, AC and engine diagnostics.
- Most of our fleet is Ford and Ram – knowledge and experience with these makes is a plus.
- May be required to work extended hours in inclement weather.
- Must be able to work in direct sunlight, inclement weather or at night.
- Must have your own hand tools and diagnostic tools.
- Must be able to submit work orders electronically for each repair completed.
- Must be physically able to do all assigned tasks that relate to mechanic work.
- Must have a clean driving record that is insurable by our company standards.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required. Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
- Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to work and learn independently.
- Strong written/ verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to use various windows-based computer software.
- Valid commercial driver's license preferred.
- Bi-lingual (English / Spanish) a plus but not required
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Duties are performed throughout the inside and outside of the building(s). Employee is exposed to dirt, dust, heat, cold, noise and vibration, fumes and odors, wetness, and humidity, and sometimes darkness. Employee is required to stand, walk, kneel, squat, crawl, bend, and twist. Employee may have to climb and/or lift up to and over 80 pounds frequently. Visual requirements are constant. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Due to the nature of the environment, employee is exposed to potential mechanical, chemical, electrical and fire hazards on a regular basis.
