Summary.
Maintains Quality Assurance programs through accuracy, observation, reporting, and recommendations to management. Has primary responsibility for calibration checks, BATF reporting, and maintaining building permits. Assists QA management with audits and documentation needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
Include the following:
  • Monitors Quality Assurance requirements and procedures and ensures any deviations are promptly reported to management
  • Conducts critical control point monitoring for facility Food Safety Plans and updates records accordingly
  • Performs swabbing of equipment
  • Performs procedure audits
  • Manages the pest control program
  • Assists the Quality Manager with maintaining facility organic certification and processes
  • Performs swabbing and air plate collection for environmental monitoring
  • Assists with response to customer RFI’s (requests for information), complaints, and returns
  • Assists QA specialist I in maintaining, creating, and updating SOPs
  • Completes BATF reporting
  • Assists in ISO14001 and sustainability initiatives
  • Conducts internal audits
  • Supports the preventive maintenance system
  • Assures building and property maintenance issues are addressed
  • Assists with external audits as needed
  • Reviews raw materials to assign risk categories
  • Evaluates and coordinates raw material testing
  • Updates and maintains raw material documents in Trace Gains
  • Performs clerical work as needed (scanning, filing, organizing)
  • Acts as contributing member of the Health and Safety Committee
  • Acts as back up for Quality Assurance Specialist I as needed
  • Other duties, special projects may be assigned

Qualifications.
Education and/or Experience –Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Quality or related role.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.
Food safety/HACCP certification, PCQI, or obtained within 3 months of employment.

  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic Microsoft Office skills.

Physical Demands.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move under 50 pounds. Specific vision and hearing requirements required by this job include color vision and ability to hear sound.

Work Environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee will regularly work near moving mechanical parts, be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
