Summary
This position supports the Analytical Services and R&D teams by providing technical information through analytical chemistry techniques. Provides food and flavor analysis, troubleshooting, and data reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Independently operate HPLC, GC, GC-MS for food and flavor analysis samples, as needed.
- Initiate and develop projects and initiatives to improve Analytical Services with respect to workflow, instrumentation, methodology, lab resources and data management.
- Perform market product extractions (e.g., SPE, SPME, liquid-liquid).
- Proactively seek new, more efficient, and accurate ways of conducting test procedures and practices to promote lab performance.
- Ensures that all requests are handled and delivered with standardized laboratory protocols.
- Ensure short-medium-long term deliverables are aligned with business strategy.
- Performs all regular lab equipment maintenance and calibrations, including GC.
- Analyzes and prepares analytical reports of flavor GC/MS analysis.
- Compounds experimental formulas for flavor labs as needed.
- Performs sensory analysis.
- Assists with QC complaint cases.
- Any other duties may be assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Flavor Raw Materials and Sensory expertise.
- Proficient in the identification of flavor raw materials by analytical tools.
- Minimum 5 years of track record and relevant experience in analytical chemistry in a similar role.
- Experience in reverse engineering of consumer market products utilizing GC/MS, Headspace, and other techniques.
- Proficient in SPME, liquid-liquid, and other extraction techniques.
- Able to perform data treatment with basic to advanced software tools
- Good Team management coupled with an entrepreneurial and agile mindset as well as a strong collaborative and interdisciplinary capacity
