Job Summary
As a key member of the Category management team, this position will develop global strategy for flavors; developing and maintaining key supplier relationships best suited to support company objectives. The role will be responsible for sourcing lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) while supporting Procurement leadership and cross functional partners in Procurement Operations; Supply Chain, PSM, R&D and Commercial Departments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)
- Create, Support and optimize a robust global strategy for flavors
- Develops and communicates Category strategy
- Plan and execute and evaluate RFP’s using Ariba or other designated system
- Support the global cross-functional teams to effectively execute the category strategy
- Creation of Category Intelligence sheets for the highest impact materials
- Ensure that the business requirements and needs of each region are well understood and executed within the category plan; work with the Procurement Operations team to implement local sourcing when necessary
- Assists in global collaboration projects targeted at ongoing harmonization and continuous improvements efforts
- Independently monitors/research’s global markets to mitigate supply and cost risk to the company, modifying strategy as necessary
- Support Finance on budgeting projections and budget revisions as required for responsible materials
- Support and collaborate with S&OP team on key ingredients communications/updates
- Provide timely communication to Finance and Commercial team on market and price changes.
- Utilize procurement best practices in all areas to deliver strategic value with assurance of supply, alternate sourcing and risk mitigation/reduction by, but not limited to:
- Proactively finding alternate sources for key materials
- Continuous and diligent updating of price, lead time, terms, etc. in PIR’s and/or contracts
- Conducting effective price negotiations for spot buys and initial negotiation for longer-term contracts
- Effective resolution of daily issues for assigned category
- Effectively responding to and delivering on the day-to-day sourcing activities (including required documentation and R&D / QA approvals) and upload updates to appropriate sourcing database
- Timely follow up and follow through on all sourcing requests from the operations and commercial teams, R&D and innovation teams
- Ongoing and effective supplier relationship management that delivers a mutual advantage
- Ongoing gathering & reporting of relevant market intelligence
- Evaluate spend reports regularly, develop action plan for changing requirements
- Assisting in the sourcing of new ingredients, documenting any details in appropriate sourcing database and sourcing systems as well as quality management systems
- Submitting new products for evaluation as needed and applicable
- Responsible for all management of change (MOC) for strategic changes that involve cost savings, risk mitigation or technical efficiency.
- Support the Operations team in the MOC process for day-to-day emergencies as needed.
- Support Strategic Initiative Projects as assigned and in support of company initiatives and priorities.
- Mitigate cost variances to budgets
- Drive supplier performance and development through proactive utilization of the Supplier Scorecard to benchmark and improve supplier performance through the frequent communication of Glanbia’s expectations and requirements
- Regular on-site attendance is an essential function of this position
- Support other sister divisions/locations for procurement activities as required for price negotiation, contracting, sourcing, etc.

- TBD: Eventual supervisor for Category Specialist Flavors
Performance Indicators
- Bi-annual review with Category manager on annual objectives; monthly progress tracking against savings and other strategic targets
Qualification & Experience Requirements
Education
University degree in related field required (equivalent experience in lieu of education may be considered)
Experience (Required)
Minimum of 6 years of business experience; college education can take the place of work experience
Working knowledge of and experience with food or fortification manufacturing environment is preferred

Language, Computer & Numeracy:
- Fluent in written and spoken English required. If residing in Canada fluent English and French required.
- Experience with and solid understanding of ERP/MRP systems, preferably SAP with the ability and desire to work within and progress such complex systems, SharePoint and Business Objects experience also preferred
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Strong math skills, and knowledge of the metric system, are required
- Heavy Data analysis including MS Excel pivot tables and spreadsheets
Travel Requirements
- Periodic domestic and international travel to visit internal stakeholders in other regions, tradeshows, suppliers, and other events as required (15%)
