Spray Dryer operator
Job Summary
The Spray-Dry Operator oversees and operates all spray-drying equipment in a food-grade sanitary environment. This role leads a shift team responsible for liquid batching and bulk packaging of the spray-dried powder.
Essential Functions
- Operate the production line
- Identify, correct, and log all errors in production
- Record inventory usage accurately
- Ensure batching and packaging is done correctly and according to customer requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized GMP environment at all times
- Lead and support a shift team
- Verify correct items have been picked before adding to the mixing tank and weigh materials for each batch Ensure materials are mixed accurately per batch instructions
- Transfer liquids as needed from vessel to vessel and run the Dryer as directed on each batch sheet
- Accurately and completely fill out paperwork as needed
- Disassemble, clean, sanitize and reassemble equipment during wash-ups
- Fill in for Powder Packer position as needed
- Take full ownership of safety, quality, food safety, sustainability and housekeeping.
- Perform minor maintenance items (e.g. changes gaskets, seals, and cleaning items, check balls)
- Keep floors, pipes, equipment, control room, and assigned work area clean
- Assist in the training of other operators
- Complete daily master sanitation list.
- Keeps chemicals and products organized, full, and neat
- Takes active role in continuous improvement teams
- Completely fills out all log sheets and pulls daily samples
- Helps maintain CIP recorder chart & book
- Work with other operators to preform load outs.
- Take an active part in loss control.
- Reports any quality or equipment problems
- Become Membrane Certified
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Computer experience helpful
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Self-motivated and ability to work with little supervision
- Must be dependable and trustworthy
- Must be able to work in hot and wet conditions
- Must be certifiable on the membrane systems
- Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment
- Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality
- Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed
- Ability to read and write instructions in English
- Knowledge of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals
- Must be able to work weekends, and overtime as required
