The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for providing analytical support to a variety of cross-functional teams throughout the company. This individual will analyze financial data related to inventory, sales, and profitability to provide insights and recommendations that optimize merchandising strategies and maximize business performance.
Essential Job Functions The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts and budgets for merchandising activities, including sales, inventory, and margin targets.
- Evaluate the profitability of various product categories, promotions and merchandising strategies to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and present financial reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators and identify trends.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret financial data from various sources to identify opportunities and challenges.
- Work closely with merchandising and planning teams to provide financial insight and support strategic decision-making.
- Review monthly financial operating results for each assigned business unit, identify key trends, variances, and areas of improved performance.
- Develop and present business cases for new initiatives, investments and strategies related to merchandising.
- Provide actionable insights to improve sell-through, margin performance and inventory efficiency.
- Partner with other finance teams and business units to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Build strong partnerships with merchants, planners, and store operations to optimize business outcomes.
- Preforms ad hoc analysis and forecasts for internal management team and external customers.
Education/Experience:
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, business management, quantitative analysis or economics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Accounting, or Finance or equivalent years of BI experience is required.
- Experience with SQL, Data Visualization, Tableau, R, Python, and/or other business intelligence applications is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written business communication skills
- Advanced skills financial analysis, financial modeling, profitability analysis and/or auditing techniques.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize complex, diversified responsibilities, multitask effectively and execute tasks with a sense of urgency with minimum supervision.
- Strong organizational, time management and planning skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
