Key Responsibilities:
- Daily assignment of personnel, utilizing staff to maximum to meet the needs of Resident.
- Supervises the maintenance of accurate and complete medical records for all Residents assigned to the unit.
- Observes Residents and report significant changes to the physician, ADON, and DON. Informs oncoming shift of the changes, new orders, etc. Document on nurse's notes as necessary.
- Administer medications as ordered by the physician, documenting all pertinent information.
- Performs treatment for Residents as ordered by physician, documenting all pertinent information.
- Oversees accountability for use of Resident chargeable items.
- Supervises control of narcotics and medications reporting any discrepancies to the pharmacy and the DON. Monitors emergency drug box-maintaining supplies and equipment in functional order.
- Observes all staff members for skills in job performance, address any problem through documented in-service.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education Required:
Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing with an associate degree, diploma or B.S.N. degree. In addition, must hold a current valid nursing license to practice in the state of Florida. Must participate in continuing education so that there is knowledge of current trends and developments in nursing. Current CPR certification. Must be computer literate.
Experience:
One (2) year of experience in geriatric nursing is preferred. Experience in nursing home or hospital.
