What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior WMS Engineer position at FleetPride?
The Senior WMS Engineer will play a key role in the functional and technical design, as well as the solution delivery for the WMS system. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the execution of integrated technology delivery and driving ongoing improvements to the BY WMS solution for FleetPride.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze warehouse data: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to warehouse operations, including inventory levels, order volumes, picking accuracy, and shipping/receiving performance.
- Responsible for WMS solution design and development for supporting warehouse operations and projects.
- Provide functional design inputs and lead effort to develop business process design, functional specifications, and test planning efforts, work with different collaborators to identify and address design gaps.
- Analyze code, configuration, data, and logs to find causes of errors and revise the solution as needed.
- Optimize warehouse processes: Identify areas of improvement within the warehouse operations, such as inventory management, order picking, packing, and shipping, and develop strategies to streamline processes.
- Inventory management: Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and implement measures to minimize stock discrepancies, prevent stockouts, and reduce excess inventory.
- Warehouse systems management: Oversee and maintain the warehouse management system (WMS), ensuring accurate data entry, system updates, and troubleshooting any system issues.
- Analyze, define, and document technical requirements for data, workflow, logic, hardware and operating system environments, and interfaces with other systems.
- Performance metrics tracking: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure warehouse performance, identify trends, and report findings to management.
- Operational efficiency enhancement: Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in warehouse operations and propose and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with various teams, including Blue Yonder / JDA team, Integration team, IT applications teams and Business teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of warehouse activities with overall business objectives.
- Support deploying software deliveries from Blue Yonder / JDA associates.
- Training and documentation: Develop and deliver training programs and documentation for warehouse staff on new processes, tools, and system updates to enhance their understanding and adherence to best practices.
- Support the definition of business and data requirements and support the development of functional specifications.
- Support development of test strategy and identification of test scenarios.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), Computer & Information Science (CIS. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience.
- 6 years of working with Blue Yonder / JDA WMS with at least 2 full-cycle implementations as an Engineer or Consultant (comparable experience with other best of breed WMS applications, in addition to BY WMS, may be considered).
- Experience configuring and customizing Blue Yonder WMS modules.
- Understanding of MOCA (Messaging, Object, Command Architecture).
- Understanding of integration methods like APIs, EDI, and middleware tools (e.g., MuleSoft, TIBCO, or Boomi).
- Hands-on experience with Web Services (SOAP/REST) for connecting WMS with ERP, TMS, and other systems.
- 2 years’ Technical experience with RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL), proficient in SQL.
- Strong understanding of Supply Chain and Warehousing concepts.
- Experience in Agile Methodology, and API based integrations.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, design and development skills.
- Strategic and growth mindset, technology & process improvement experience, solution engineering skills and effective communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-orientated, collaborative, and cross-functional environment.
- Strong ability to design and execute configurations in Blue Yonder / JDA WMS to meet business requirements.
- Demonstrated ability of working with IT and Business stakeholders (incl. working with Distribution Center Managers/Associates).
- Retail eCommerce experience is preferred.
