Join our dynamic team as a paid, full-time intern, where you will play a vital role in shaping our public relations and social media initiatives. In this position, candidates will collaborate closely with staff on a variety of projects, including supporting monitoring/reporting, conducting research, developing and writing media materials, social media strategy, content development, influencer activation, paid media and advertising, as well as social media research and data analytics. You'll have the opportunity to work with notable brands across technology, manufacturing, and automotive sectors, engaging with many high-profile accounts within FleishmanHillard’s expansive global client network.

Skill Building

Hands-on instruction to an agency environment including:

  • Specialized writing skills such as news releases, pitch letters and other media materials
  • Familiarity with social media platforms from a professional perspective (Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
  • Familiarity with social listening and analysis to inform social media strategy and/or content creation.
  • Influencer talent identification, vetting, and monitoring.
  • Ability to draft short-form and long-form content for social platforms
  • Exposure to project coordination and execution
  • Exposure to account management and program development
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have completed their junior year of college with a focus in journalism, public relations, communications, English or a similar major, and must also display an eagerness to expand their skills in social-focused communications, marketing, advertising and project management. The ideal candidate for this position must be social media savvy, extremely comfortable making recommendations for content ideas, willing to interpret social performance data, detail-oriented and able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Qualified candidates must be committed to cultivating diverse teams and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

This full-time paid internship is 40 hours per week. This internship offers a hybrid work experience (remote and in-office). Note: candidates are required to work onsite in our Detroit office at least three times a week.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $20 an hour.

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications and geography.
