Job Description
Position Overview :
Flender, located in Elgin, IL is seeking a professional, qualified and energetic senior level Engineer for its WIND aftermarket organization. The Senior Engineer will play a significant role in defining and developing service scope and solutions for Wind Turbine Gear Box repairs as well as support our non-Wind (Industry Applications) team that best fits our customers' needs. They will work closely with Aftermarket Sales, its German and other foreign affiliates, and customers in the industrial, construction and utility markets on technical, contractual and commercial issues.
Duties will also include supporting and leading projects and initiatives to ensure optimal plant performance, efficiency, and safety.
Responsibilities :
Major Duties - Drive service competencies in the following areas :
- Identifying repair requirements and advise alternatives for gear box assemblies.
- Assembling equipment Bill of Materials and presenting cost requests.
- Provide expert opinion to identify assembly processes / assembly sub-contractors.
- Provide Expert direction to develop Gear Box testing and qualification processes.
- Research, design, evaluate, and maintain parametric components, assemblies, drawings, part layouts applying a good, sound knowledge of engineering principles.
- Lead in RCA, PPAP, APQP4Wind, 8-D, FAI and other Quality related technical support.
Minor Duties :
Required and Preferred Knowledge / Skills, Education and Experience :
Possess a strong level of technical knowledge with the application, repair and design of Wind Turbine Gear Drives (Winergy and Multi-Brand)
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent degree). Master's degree a plus.
Ability to analyze customer's technical specifications, drawings and data comprehension, and equipment Bill of Materials to apply appropriate product offerings to meet the customers' expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner, offer alternative solutions to optimize profitability while meeting customer needs.
Excellent team player and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks while maintaining excellent customer service.
Excellent communications skills to effectively and accurately communicate with internal and external customers.
Basic financial knowledge to understand and participate in ongoing business planning and support the product as well as project lifecycle management processes.
Ability to identify market trends and using this information, work closely with Marketing and Technology to create and justify projects to close the identified gaps.
Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools, Outlook, SAP, TeamCenter and product configuration / pricing applications.
3-D modeling experience (NX) and / or FE analysis a plus
Familiarity with ANSI, ISO, DIN and NEMA standards.
Position Description :
Develop and communicate technical solutions to support Customer repair needs by using an efficient utilization of resources. Interface with team members to provide expertise to Project Manager(s), technical teams, division and product-line management, as well as Customer management. Promote maximum Customer satisfaction with the Flender's capabilities and potential, and Flender's equipment reliability and availability.
Ensure the Customer's technical needs are adequately addressed.
Provide expertise on all models of wind turbine gear box repairs (Winergy and Multi-Brand) to support field service technicians, in-house staff, certified service providers, OEMs and customers.
