10 month, 8 hours per day
NOTE: First Pay Day will be 3/31/2025
Position Summary:
Performs professional work to facilitate the provision of services for students with disabilities ages 3-5. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills. The ability to multitask and meet deadlines is also essential. This position works closely with preschool teachers and related service providers to facilitate services for students with disabilities as well as collaborate with local preschool and daycare providers.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with coursework in special education, or a related field.
Special Requirements:
- North Carolina Teacher Certification in Birth to K or Special Education
- 3 years of successful preschool classroom experience

Essential Duties:
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding the evaluation process and scheduling of meetings for evaluations and results.
- Prepare documents for and lead IEP meetings for students, including gathering data from multiple sources.
- Develop an equitable master schedule for preschool services and caseloads.
- Collaborate with childcare providers in the district to facilitate services.
- Identify and facilitate professional development opportunities for HCPS preschool staff.
- Conduct student observations and provide feedback to providers regarding appropriate interventions and data collection.
- Work with elementary schools to provide information on students with disabilities transitioning to kindergarten.
- Attend local and state meetings as required.
- Serve on local preschool/childcare committees.
- Complete local and state reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Understand Child Find and the school system’s obligation under Child Find.
- Collaborate with the EC Director for student placement, preschool to school transitions, and general preschool programming information.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of special education and specialty area; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching of students with disabilities; thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students and parents; ability to operate a personal computer.
Physical Requirements:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing and speaking or hearing, frequently requires walking, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
