Our client is a wholly owned subsidiary of an Insurance Company. Global Investments (GI) is headquartered in New York’s financial district and is the organization responsible for the overall investment activities of our parent company and its subsidiaries in Japan, the U.S., and Bermuda. With ~150 employees globally, GI manages an investment strategy focused on maximizing long-term returns with a focus on preservation of capital, subject to our affiliated insurance company’s objectives for income, asset-liability management, liquidity, and capital. GI is responsible for generating approximately $3.5 billion of annual investment income from our parent company’s general accounts from a mix of public and private assets (including strategic partnerships) across multiple geographies and currencies. As of year-end 2023, their total general account portfolio was $100 billion.

Job Summary

Within Global Investments, the Private Assets Operations Analyst works within the US Chief Operating Officer Group in support of private assets managed internally and externally. The position will work in support for all middle and back office operational processes which primarily includes supporting senior members of the team with funding requirements and wire processing, cash management, reconciliations, and documentation management related tasks within the existing governance and control environment. The role will also include cross-training with other Operations teams within GI and collaborate with colleagues in Columbus, GA (Corporate) and Japan Operations teams as directed by management.

Reports to: Director, Head of Private Assets Operations

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Private Assets Operations: Work in collaboration with senior team members of private asset operations to support front office portfolio management team responsible for private debt and alternative assets for externally managed mandates. Assist in performing daily operational activity to support funds and separately managed accounts activity across direct middle market loan lending and real estate debt mandates (on a look through basis), private equity and real estate equity funds, and other asset classes (i.e. ABS, CLOs, structured credit). Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Proactively monitor daily portfolio activity, ensure timely issues identification and resolution, communication of critical information between teams and with external managers and service providers.
• Ensure proper operational controls are followed, maintain and enhance operational procedures and controls as needed, ensure that appropriate escalation and risk mitigation solutions are followed and help to operationalize control reporting.
• Participate in the development of systems and process improvements, optimize current processes and look for opportunities for automation and efficiency.
• Support all capital calls, funding activity, and invoice processing across investment product types (private funds and SMAs) and communicate timely with internal stakeholders and external parties.
• Support documentation management for private asset operations across the platform.
• As needed, support the monthly cash planning and management process.
• Monitor the physical custody workflow to confirm that managers are following agreed upon documentation delivery and custody requirements and resolve any questions or issues.
• Serve as a secondary point of contact for external managers’ service level agreements and reporting deliverables, liaison with internal stakeholders and external managers to address and resolve issues.
• Assist primary relationship manager with external service providers and/or external managers involved in servicing private assets mandates including assistance with various ad-hoc matters.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, engineering, information systems, computer science or similar is required.

Job Knowledge & Skills:

Technical Skills:

• 1 year experience working in an investments operations. Insurance company asset management experience a plus.
• MS Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• General knowledge and understanding of investments and willingness to learn
• Be able to identify and improve data accuracy and processes used in production of financial, accounting and investment reporting purposes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to present and articulate issues clearly and succinctly with all levels of management, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
