HR Job Scope
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all employees, candidates, company information, records and related issues and sensitive data in accordance with applicable laws.
- Build positive relationships with employees, managers, supervisors, and candidates.
- Manage and maintain hourly payroll.
- Communicate new employee hires, promotions, and anniversaries internally.
- Educate employees on benefit programs upon hire and during open enrollments
- Administration of garnishments, child support orders, employee transfers, leaves of absence, change of status, and change of employee information. Handle unemployment review, reconciliation, and other related tasks.
- HR filing: employee personnel files, medical files, and work compensation files.
- Manage hourly employee termination process.
- Support the layoffs and recalls process and communications.
- Manage the job bidding procedures, including job bid postings, shift preferences, changes in shift start times.
- Responsible for all hourly disciplinary and attendance corrective action documents.
- Communication with employees about any issues, questions, and concerns. Posting notice(s) of all communication throughout the plant.
- Terminations – mail term letters and COBRA information to past employees, send department notifications, pull employee files to prepare for long-term storage, perform exit surveys.
- Responsible for the completion of the annual review process (hourly personnel)
- Maintain Training Matrix for all new hires, transfers and terminations
- Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees.
- Maintains employee files and HRIS assuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality to include, verification of Eligibility to Work (I-9), required documents, signatures and employee data
HR Recruiting Scope
- Build positive relationships with candidates and hiring managers/teams.
- Conduct employee orientation, as requested. Conduct follow-up check ins at two-week, 30 days, 60 days, etc. for new hires.
- Conduct phone screens on qualified candidates.
- Review resumes, assess qualifications and move candidates through standard recruiting processes efficiently in the recruiting system.
- Proactively source qualified candidates through various methods including on campus recruiting events, job postings, networking events, employee referrals, online sourcing tools, etc.
- Print/prepare new hire packets. Conduct orientation process by coordinating with recruitment, preparing offer letters, employment background screening, drug testing, new hire orientation and communication with relevant departments, managers and personnel.
- Provide follow-up and feedback to candidates in a timely manner.
- Provide regular updates to HR manager and hiring managers regarding candidates and vacancies.
- Enroll benefit selections for each new hire on appropriate web pages, and maintain changes during qualifying events and open enrollments.
- Work with human resource managers/supervisors to define candidate qualifications and business hiring needs.
H&S Scope
- Responsible for safety orientation, safety training, job site inspections and reporting.
- Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation.
- Perform job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations.
- Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety program by all employees and subcontractors.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
- Coordinate inspections and occupational safety activities with departments.
- Direct and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs. (with HRM support)
- Research occupational safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment are adopted to minimize the hazards in the work place. (with HRM support)
- Lead and/or participate on teams with safety, technical, management, and other team members.
- Periodically act as a team leader to special task forces or teams.
- Provide direction and/or guidance to less experienced occupational safety personnel.
Requirements
- Four-year college degree preferred with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment
- Two (2) years experience in health and safety in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read, write and speak English effectively; bilingual English/ Spanish - Preferred but not required
- Required for the position skills in basic mathematics, organizational, communication (verbal and written), and proficient in HRIS and Microsoft office.
- Ability to effectively prioritize, show initiative, and work independently.
- Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple projects
- Safety certification training is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations and workers’ compensation legislation.
- Working towards certification, or already certified, under the Occupational Health & Safety Act/Regulations is considered an asset.

- This job operates in an office and plant environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift minimum of 25lbs.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
P P ositin Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time, salaried position. It is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- It is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Must be flexible with hours and days to accommodate our multi-shift workforce. Overtime may be required from time to time.
