Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor
The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for supervising operations to ensure production runs smoothly, safely, and on time. This includes creating production schedules and assigning daily work tasks based on production needs and employee strengths. The ideal candidate will be shop-floor orientated and provide hands-on support to all team members on a daily basis. This role involves driving product/process safety, quality, delivery, and morale, as well as continuous improvement of the assigned department and training and development of direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and adjust cycle times on all machines to optimize efficiency.
- Collaborate with Processors, Lead Processors, and Molding Supervisors to maintain part quality on all machines.
- Process all types of defects, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime.
- Ensure accurate execution of color changes and mold changes, including creation of new process setups for tools.
- Operate control panels on machines, entering and changing data as needed.
- Document process changes in a centralized log.
- Respond to abnormal machine conditions using the lighting system and collaborate with the Molding Supervisor.
- Review SPC documents for out-of-control conditions and document corrective actions.
- Communicate automation issues to the maintenance department.
- Load tool programs into robots on machines and record downtime codes accurately.
- Schedule Production Technicians according to cell requirements each day.
- Approve and document vacation time for Production Technicians, Relief Operators, Material Handlers, and Grinders.
- Address disciplinary situations on shift and complete Employee Corrective Action/Consultation Forms.
- Assist with attendance issues and provide job instructions as needed.
- Promote scrap reduction initiatives and champion related teams.
- Maintain housekeeping responsibilities daily, utilizing recycling areas when possible.
- Ensure ISO/TS16949:2002 compliance within manufacturing, material handling, material control, and purchasing disciplines.
- Maintain ISO14001:2004 compliance within manufacturing, material material control, and purchasing disciplines.
- Maintain OSHA compliance within manufacturing, material handling, and purchasing disciplines.
Requirements:
- A high school education or up to one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform arithmetic operations, compute rates and ratios, and draw bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, interpreting technical instructions and dealing with abstract variables.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of G2 Shop Floor Data Collection Manufacturing software is required.
- Fork Truck Certification is essential.
- Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, talk, and hear; frequently required to reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
