What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic/Fabricator/Upfitter Technician position at Flex-Staff, Inc.?
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fabrication/Upfitting Technician to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of components and accessories on trucks. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, precision, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabrication and Assembly:
- Perform welding, cutting, and shaping of metal components.
- Assemble and install truck bodies, platforms, and other structural components.
- Customize and modify trucks according to client specifications and industry standards.
- Installation:
- Install electrical systems, lighting, and other accessories.
- Mount and secure equipment such as truck bodies, platforms, service bodies, cranes, snowplows, lift gates, salt spreaders, warning lights, and hydraulic systems.
- Ensure all installations are safe, functional, and meet quality standards.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company and client specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or defects.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time and materials used.
- Communicate with supervisors and team members about project progress and any issues that arise.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in welding, fabrication, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in truck fabrication, upfitting, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in welding (MIG, TIG, stick) and metalworking techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of automotive systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and working in various positions.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
