Controls Project Engineer
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong background in electrical engineering and PLC programming . This role will initially support active automation projects before transitioning to full project management. The Controls Project Engineer will lead projects from kickoff to installation , overseeing electrical control system design , managing project timelines, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. This position requires on-site travel for equipment installation, troubleshooting, and customer training .
Job Responsibilities :
- Design and develop new electrical control systems in compliance with industry standards such as NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and ANSI .
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet timelines and critical milestones .
- Work with the engineering team to align hardware and software designs with project budgets.
- Maintain task lists, open item reports, and project documentation to ensure smooth execution.
- Prepare and deliver customer-facing technical documentation and system manuals.
- Ensure controls engineering processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Program and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems , including Rockwell Logix 5000 and Siemens S7-1500 processors.
- Program and configure HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems .
- Provide technical support , assisting customers and field technicians in troubleshooting electrical and automation systems .
- Conduct on-site training sessions for end users on system operation and maintenance.
- Travel required : approximately 30% (domestic and international) for project support and installations.
