Manufacturing Engineer II
Position Summary
Join our engineering team as a Manufacturing Engineer II , playing a key role in product development, process planning, and platform launches . In this role, you will collaborate with manufacturing, quality, applications engineering, and tooling teams to design and implement efficient manufacturing processes . This position focuses on the planning and prelaunch phases , ensuring optimal production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities :
Manufacturing Process Design : Develop and optimize manufacturing processes , ensuring alignment with best practices and planned process / equipment improvements . Work closely with quality engineers, process engineers, and tooling specialists to create work-cell process plans for new product launches.
Product Development & Feasibility : Support early-stage design development , collaborating with applications engineering and product engineering teams to assess manufacturing feasibility and ensure seamless integration into production.
Process Planning & Risk Analysis : Actively contribute to the development of process flow diagrams, cost estimates, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis), and pre-production control plans . Ensure completion before the start of regular production to optimize efficiency and quality.
Cost Optimization & Waste Reduction : Conduct detailed cost assessments , incorporating automation opportunities and lean manufacturing principles to reduce both variable and fixed costs . Evaluate and implement capital investments that drive efficiency and innovation.
Continuous Improvement & Quality Enhancement : Participate in cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives , including Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA / VE) studies and plant-specific improvement projects.
Collaboration & Teamwork : Work closely with cross-functional teams , including platform managers, process engineers, and purchasing teams , ensuring seamless execution of production launch strategies .
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Competencies :
- Problem-Solving Expertise : Proficiency in 8D problem-solving methodology or similar techniques.
- Statistical & Quality Tools : Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and data-driven problem-solving techniques .
- Strong Organizational & Communication Skills : Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and collaborate with cross-functional teams .
Experience & Education Requirements :
5 years of manufacturing plant experience (preferably in a high-volume production environment).
3 years in the automotive industry with expertise in manufacturing processes, quality engineering, and process optimization .
bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field , or equivalent training / experience .
