Commissioning Engineer

Position Summary

The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, hardware, and software based on customer specifications . This role involves on-site support , overseeing project management , and ensuring that installations are completed on schedule for a successful startup and launch . Reporting to the Service Manager , this position requires technical expertise , site supervision , and collaboration with teams to ensure smooth project execution. Candidates should be prepared for extensive travel (65%) , including potential extended stays at job sites .

Essential Functions & Responsibilities :

Perform commissioning for projects and products.
Conduct equipment startup, debugging, and troubleshooting .
Verify hardwired installations and debug controls hardware and software .
Record baseline data and update technical documentation .
Modify and mark up AutoCAD drawings .
Collect project performance data and forecast project schedules .
Assemble, debug, and adjust electronic and electro-mechanical systems .
Produce daily site reports and provide standby support for customers.
Train customer representatives on equipment and system operation.
Supervise and support field personnel and external suppliers.
Oversee installation supervision as required.
Work both independently and within a team environment .
Travel approximately 65% for on-site commissioning and support.

Minimum Qualifications :

Associate degree in Electrical Technology ; BSEE or BSME preferred (or equivalent experience).

5 years of experience in automotive, machine tool, or manufacturing environments .

5 years of experience with Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens S7 PLC, and C programming .

Hands-on experience with control panel building .

Familiarity with regulatory standards (OSHA, NFPA, BOCA, MSHA).

Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings .

Strong supervisory and management skills .

Excellent organizational, verbal communication, and technical writing skills .

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment .

Skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving for electrical and mechanical systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) .

Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Strong background in control applications for machine tools and test equipment .

Hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems .

Excellent customer relations and technical management skills.

Ability to interact professionally with customers and suppliers in high-pressure situations.

Superior analytical and organizational abilities to coordinate manufacturing needs .

Ability to adapt to changing environments and work in high-demand situations .

Special Requirements :

Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally with short notice.

Travel requirement : 65%, sometimes for extended periods .

Extensive overtime may be required to meet customer demands.
