Reporting to the Automation Manager, the student will be responsible for solving complex problems and generating new ideas for a global organization in support of real-time business issues, to develop skills and experiences.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add an Automation Engineering Intern located in our Coopersville, MI site.
Reporting to the Automation Manager, the student will be responsible for solving complex problems and generating new ideas for a global organization in support of real-time business issues, to develop skills and experiences.
What a typical day looks like:
- Assists with manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Collaborates with engineering team understand system architecture and design constraints.
- Creates mechanical design concepts for various products using mechanical tools.
- Assists with the design mechanisms to help improve installation and serviceability.
- Assists with testing and executes experiments for mechanical system optimization.
- Works with the team to build and test prototypes.
- Diagnoses and makes recommendations on prototypes, assembly or design failures.
- Currently enrolled student pursuing Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Controls/Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering major
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate with others
- Self-motivated, high energy and strong time management skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to take lead and drive for results
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Previous internship experience a plus!
- Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
- Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
- 3.0 minimum GPA
