Job Description
The Quality Inspector independently performs inspections on machined parts, raw materials, and parts received from subcontracted suppliers. They will be supporting the production environment by performing in-process production inspections, first article inspections, receiving inspections, and final inspections to ensure conformance to requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection activities to assess the conformance of products to the design as defined by the engineering drawings and purchase order.
- Utilize and modify programs for coordinates measuring equipment and related software.
- Knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in the use of manual & visual inspection equipment: i.e. CMM, Calipers, gauges, micrometers, digital indicators, surface plates, optical comparators, microscopes, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, profilometers, hardness/durometer testers, to verify mechanical part conformity.
- Identify non-conforming conditions that present existing or impending defective conditions at the system or subsystem level.
- Provide guidance and training for product inspection and equipment used as needed for production.
- Aid with data collection and root cause analysis investigations.
- Add organizational value by implementing innovative solutions and best practices involved in all areas of the inspection process.
- Other duties as assigned to support daily operations and QC.
JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for the First Article Inspection and ensures product conformity to establish requirements by evaluating product to customer and Engineering drawings, specifications, and other related documents. Coordinates the receiving, in-process and final product inspections, and documents results in various reports and logs in the Quality System Network.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fundamental mechanical and mathematical inspection knowledge.
- Familiar with the use of all inspection hand gauging including but not limited to, micrometers, thread gauges, dial indicators, calipers, height gauges, etc.
- Ensure proper operation of measurement equipment by following operating instructions.
- Robust knowledge of GD&T, blueprint, and spec interpretation.
- Work and adhere to quality management systems and requirements (i.e., training, policies, procedures, document control)
- Assists Engineering and Manufacturing in the investigation of non-conformities.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by following guidelines and procedures and complying with all applicable regulations.
