Platform Engineer Co-Op (July 2025)

Job Title: Platform Engineering Co-Op  
Location: Onsite - Boston, MA  
Employment Type: Temporary (July 2025 - December 2025)  
Compensation: $33/hr 

 
About the Role: 

The Flexcar Co-Op Program is a 5 month paid temporary employment program. The Co-Op Program replaces traditional classroom learning for one semester by providing 30-40 hours per week of onsite real work experience.  

Flexcar is looking for a Platform Engineer Co-op to help develop and support infrastructure, tools and developer experience solutions which power the Flexcar products. You will be at the forefront of the Platform team's growth and can be expected to contribute to the direction, development and support of the systems that Flexcar relies on. This is a wonderful opportunity to come in and make an impact on our existing platform.

They consistently contribute code to our production systems, drive project delivery, and seamlessly integrate into our engineering teams as valued team members. What you’ll do:    

• Engage in the full software development lifecycle, spanning from initial design to deployment of developer experience solutions like our tooling to build and deploy the Flexcar applications. 

• Contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of AWS infrastructure 

• Support the maintenance and usage of our observability solutions like Grafana, Loki and OpenTelemetry 

• Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with fellow platform engineers, security engineers and data engineers to develop inventive and resource-efficient solutions.  

• Delve deeply into technical intricacies, collaborating with fellow engineers to streamline and maintain our build and deploy pipelines for simplicity and ease of use.  

• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

What drives success for this role:     

• Working towards a BS in Computer Science or equivalent.  

• The ability to work in person for at least 4 days a week  

• Willingness to learn and own your work  

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a bias towards action.    

• Experience with AWS services, Kubernetes and Terraform a plus 

• Experience writing code in Ruby or Typescript is a plus

**No relocation or temporary housing is offered for this position. Eligible candidates must be able to work in Boston, MA for the duration of the Co-Op period. Remote work is not available.
