Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for delivering safe and professional IV therapy for patients on specialty medications that treat neurological, rheumatologic, gastroenterological, and immunological disorders. This role will be highly involved in helping to implement and support best clinical practices for our clinic, patients, and referral sources.

Job Duties
- Provides direct patient care in the form of evaluating and documenting patient clinical assessments and IV therapy as aligned with the company, federal and state policies for both pediatric and adult patients.
- Prepares/compounds sterile admixtures for immediate use per FDA package insert and Flex Care clinical protocol.
- Communicates with physicians and other health care providers on clinical services-related issues.
- Prescribes necessary medications as necessary to mitigate acute infusion reactions, under the supervision of the infusion center Medical Director.
- Administers prescribed intravenous and subcutaneous medications and biologics, adhering to prescriber orders and applicable FDA dosing parameters.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the health care process (self, systems, environment, and instrumentation) in meeting clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and clinical operations functioning.
- Oversees and evaluates infusion nursing services and the implementation of policies and procedures and clinical drug protocols to ensure coordination and safe delivery of care.
- Serves as a clinical resource for clinical staff and referral sources. Assists the clinical team in the entry, review, and validation of prescriber orders received by faxed referral or verbal order.
- Assists in the review of lab work drawn on site, and the reporting of any critical values to the referring provider.
- Completes initial and ongoing review of clinical protocols for all infusibles/injectables provided by FlexCare to maintain clinical competency.
- Assures that all patient-related documentation and clinical reports are accurately completed, submitted, and/or filed promptly, according to internal and external regulatory requirements and in support of the billing process.
- Assists with completion of visit notes within one business day.
- Participates in Quality Assurance activities as directed by the Director of Clinical Services.

Supervisory Responsibility
- Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and Licensed Practical Nurse in concurrence with Lead Clinical Supervisor and/or Managing Nurse Practitioner
Work Environment
This job operates in a medical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office and medical equipment such as computers, printers, fax machines, phones, copiers, infusion pumps, IVs, Etc.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shift may change in accordance with business needs. Exempt employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require.
Required Minimum Job Qualifications, Experience, Education and Training
Education: Masters degree from an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program with current certification in the state of employment
Experience: 3 years of Infusion Therapy; Experience in the management of patients on specialty medications (i.e., Immunoglobulin, biologics); Strong IV access skills
Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support certification, required upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
- Unrestricted RN license in the state of employment
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration Certification, required within 90 days of hire
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Unrestricted motor vehicle license
Must be able to accomplish any and all duties with little to no assistance.
