We are currently seeking candidates to fill a Controller role. FLEXcon Company, Inc., the leading global manufacturer of coated and laminated films and adhesives, is seeking a Controller with manufacturing experience to lead the Accounting Team, while assisting the entire organization as it implements new lean operational processes.  The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Accounts Payable, General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Credit, Treasury, and compliance with sales tax filings. This hands-on role coordinates with other FLEXcon Holding entities to accomplish reporting responsibilities and consolidation of financial results of the U.S., Mexico CFE, FLEXcon Canada LMT, FLEXcon converting, FLEXcon Asia, FLEXcon Europe, FLEXcon Industrial and Arlon.  This role reports to the CFO of North America and is based at FLEXcon’s headquarters in Spencer, Massachusetts. 

What will you do in this role?  

• The Controller supports the company’s accounting activities, maximizing the use of resources to increase throughput
• Leads and coordinates monthly closing, reconciliations and review
• Responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals and allocations 
• Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions in accordance with GAAP and to appropriately reflect the financial risks of the business.
• Develop, improve and issue timely and complete monthly financial statements.
• Maintain the overall integrity of General Accounting, Budgeting and Reporting System.
• Establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures using GAAP principles
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
• Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
• Systems Administrator for General Ledger System; Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and Financial Reporting System; Oracle Fusions Cloud Consolidation Service
• Actively participates in all third-party financial audits, including confirmations and preparation
• Oversight of fixed asset processes including construction in process accounting and personal property tax returns.
• Manages payroll team and process to ensure timely and accurate processing for the US and Canada.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records as well as standard costing, including variance analysis.
• Other duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the position and/or the goals and objectives of the department may be assigned.

What does it take to be successful in this role?  

• Category #2 (Hybrid Employee): Employee requires regular travel to a Flexcon facility and will require a dedicated remote and onsite office space (must work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week).
  •  Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be punctual, able to sustain attendance guidelines, and work hours as assigned.
  • Estimated % of travel is 10%.
• Option 2: Driving while on company business is required for this role on an infrequent basis (defined as anyone that drives on company business between 1 – 49 times per year not including regular commute to work).
