Position Summary:
The Business Development Representative will be responsible for assisting in the identification and qualification of new customer opportunities and coordinating their progress within the organization. He/She will have strong prospecting and relationship building skills and a determination to succeed. Your active listening skills will allow you to understand a prospect’s challenges and their initiatives, allowing you to ask great questions and qualify their needs swiftly. This self-starter will possess a strong work-ethic, be independent, have effective communication skills (written and verbal), and excellent follow up habits. The ideal candidate understands “smiling and dialing” and that success is determined through a volume of activity, measured over time and thrives on achievement. He/she follows solid sales processes, understands KPIs, has strong organizational skills, and knows how to leverage a CRM to document a high volume of activity. This is a full-time role reporting to the Sales Manager, supporting the entire sales team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identify and/or pre-qualify sales leads through strategic account targeting, online research, proactive calling, emailing and messaging
- Leverage platforms including Hub Spot, LinkedIn, Hoovers, ZoomInfo, and others at the direction of management to identify new prospects aligned with the company’s strategic direction
- Make 100 contact attempts per day minimum via telephone and/or email, documented in the company’s CRM system
- Assist in the qualification of prospects for mutual technical and economic feasibility
- Monitor and manage deliverables, e.g. sales literature, etc., as necessary to optimize development of sales opportunities
- Disseminate relevant market intelligence to company management as identified in the course of normal prospecting and data gathering activities
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 2- 4 years’ business development experience
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Strong relationship building, project coordination and analytical skills
- Active listening skills with keen attention to detail
- Self-motivation coupled with intelligence, passion, a competitive nature and a desire to learn
- Ability to articulate value and quickly develop positive relationships with individuals from varied experience levels and backgrounds
- Strong mechanical competencies: ability to comfortably discuss technology, architecture and/or engineering
- A sense of accountability and responsibility for the goals of the sales team as a whole
- Organized with meticulous attention to detail and strong time management skills
