- Inpatient Med/Surg
The Physician Assistant will play a vital role in providing comprehensive patient care within the department. You will perform a variety of essential functions, including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and outcome evaluation, and collaborate closely with physicians and other members of the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct detailed patient assessments and obtain comprehensive medical histories.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions under the supervision of attending physicians.
- Perform technical procedures necessary for patient care, as appropriate for a PA.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Provide patient education and counseling to ensure thorough understanding of diagnoses, treatments and self-management strategies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and optimizing the delivery of PA-led care.
- Interpret laboratory and test results, consulting with supervising physicians as needed.
- Upon discharge, complete discharge summaries, prescriptions and any necessary referrals, ensuring continuity of care.
- Perform related duties as required within the scope of PA practice.
REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NY State Physician Assistant license
- Certification by the NCCPA (National Commission on certification of Physician Assistants).
- Two years of full time, satisfactory clinical experiences as a Physician Assistant preferred
- Current BLS certification
