Job Description
This class of positions encompasses responsible clinical and administrative work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility involving day-to-day tasks of an operating segment of the Radiology department in the delivery of radiological services. Operates x-ray equipment, develops images, and prepares radiological areas, equipment, supplies and contrast materials. There are four (4) Assignment Levels within this class of positions; all personnel perform related work.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Supervises the delivery of radiological services, in accordance with established standards and procedures, for the service area or unit.
2. Recommends changes and improvements relating to the delivery of radiological services.
3. Participates in the development of training programs for radiographic personnel, ancillary personnel and allied health care professionals. Demonstrates new or revised techniques, procedures and equipment.
4. May perform radiologic procedures, as required.
5. Performs special procedures including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g., C.T., M.R.I., and Mammography).
6. Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings.
7. Participates in quality assurance activities, including coordination, control and maintenance of technical equipment.
8. Participates in and coordinates procurement and storage of supplies and makes recommendations regarding supply and equipment needs.
9. Performs research and participates in special projects involving evaluation of equipment and delivery of service.
10. May be assigned duties and responsibilities of immediate Supervisor in their absence on a temporary basis.
11. May receive training and assist in the repair, maintenance, improvement and rehabilitation of housing property owned and managed by New York City.
12. May receive training and assist in work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in municipal real estate management.
13. May perform office tasks such as filing, keeping records, and typing; may answer telephones, make referrals, take messages and act as messenger.
Minimum Qualifications
1. For Supervisory Assignments : a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with Assignment Levels I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
2. For Specialized Imaging Assignments : a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced- level certification for the performance of these procedures.
