What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Addiction Treatment Center), 1-3 days/week, Manhattan, NY position at FlexStaff?
We are looking for an Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse/Nurse Practitioner to work for one of our external clients, an outpatient addiction treatment center, located in Manhattan, NY.
This is a part-time job working 1-3 days/week, depending on your availability.
In this role you will be performing psychiatric assessment, orders and reviews appropriate lab work and makes referrals, assessing and monitoring client’s psychiatric condition and responses to medication throughout client’s treatment in an Outpatient setting.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Current Psychiatric NP licensure in the state of New York required
- Must possess a Federal 2000 Data Waiver
- Valid and appropriate liability coverage required
- Must be familiar with complications in treating substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and mental illness
- Minimum one year experience/knowledge in substance abuse setting preferred
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Complete and document psychiatric assessments as needed.
- Prescribe medications and document orders for client services.
- Order, interpret, and document tests appropriately.
- Administer Naltrexone and Buprenorphine injections.
- Document all interventions in the electronic health record.
- Refer clients to hospitals or specialists when necessary.
- Consult with the Medical Director on client medical or psychiatric status.
- Assist in crisis situations and ensure quality care continuity.
- Coordinate special programs or projects as assigned.
- Maintain client health records per policies and procedures.
- Help oversee staff competency screening for waived testing.
