- This role provides the engineering team with project management for plant manufacturing equipment upgrades, modifications, and expansions. Interfaces and collaborates extensively with various other departments and vendors for the development of manufacturing equipment. Oversees the third-party fabrication, testing, and delivery schedules for new equipment builds. Provides technical expertise for equipment design, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

- Develops Project Charters and Project Plans in accordance with FlexSteel Engineering procedures.
- Prepares Approval for Expenditure and Purchase Requisitions to support equipment development and refurbishment, and interfaces with other functional departments to gain approval and address concerns.
- Coordinates and facilitates Gate Reviews to move projects efficiently through the Development and Commercialization Stages.
- Interfaces with other functional departments to determine and prioritize equipment development and sustaining engineering activities.
- Oversees externally contracted design, fabrication, and testing projects to assure they meet functional requirements, FlexSteel specifications, project schedule, budget, and contractual requirements.
- Develops, executes, and documents factory acceptance test plans for contracted equipment and components including appropriate acceptance criteria.
- Plans, manages, and documents trials of new and modified equipment and tools.
- Collaborates with Engineering Managers and Team members in preparation of deliverables.
- Triages and troubleshoots equipment issues and determines the engineering activities required to support.
- Occasional travel to suppliers support fabrication, testing and initial use of new and modified equipment and tools.
- Other duties as necessary and determined by manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Engineering or related discipline.
- 10 years related experience. Commensurate education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to effectively lead internal resources and third-party entities and guide their activities to deliver effective results on time and within established budgets.
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and methods.
- Highly computer literate in Microsoft Office and Solidworks.
- Ability to operate within a multi-tasking dynamic team environment.
- Ability to effectively present information, prepare reports and communicate at all levels.
- Ability to conduct effective negotiations with internal and external resources.
- High level of initiative and strong work ethic.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comply with governmental regulations, industry and customer standards and company procedures.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings and orthographic projection techniques.
