Flexsys has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Technician at its Sauget, IL location. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality of products. This position will work closely with the site’s production units and quality team.
Responsibilities:
- Determine, record, and report the quality of specified Raw Materials, in process and Finished Product to support all manufacturing departments at Sauget.
- Use data to prepare graphs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and interpret and communicate results.
- Schedule and prioritize assignments for self-including adjusting for unexpected changes or shifts in priority to meet customer needs.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and verify/calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Request materials, as needed.
- Perform special/non-routine testing and data analysis (round robin, gage R&R necessary to meet customer needs for information).
- Carry out special analytical and investigational work requiring knowledge, skill, and techniques other than those needed for routine work, including but not limited to feedback to operations with understanding of the link between quality and process, taking initiative to aid with root cause investigations, results interpretation and taking necessary actions when abnormal conditions are detected.
- Must continually maintain current on skills and share knowledge/train others as needs dictate.
- Maintain systems and accurate records to comply with all quality and Environmental, Safety & Health requirements. Manage and control documents, communicate results to all levels of the organization.
- Understand and comply with plant rules, lab safety rules and use of emergency equipment.
- Work as a team member in a high-performance environment including, but not limited to, the willingness to learn and display high level customer service skills including effective and timely communications.
- Some heavy lifting required.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Must have working knowledge of college level mathematics, chemistry, chemical lab techniques, statistics
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to drive department safety culture; including but not limited to initiating new programs, engaging employees at all levels, participating in safety related meetings, and implementing sustainable solutions to specific challenges
- Ability to effectively carry-out instructions, procedures and test methods
- Application and use of specifications, charts, tables, statistical techniques, and databases as they apply to laboratory testing requirements
- Ability to effectively work with minimal or no supervision
- Ability to make effective decisions to plan and perform work regarding the sequence of set-up, operations and testing to achieve accurate & precise results
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify and solve problems using mathematics and scientific rules
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of SAP
