Job Title: Service Manager – HVAC (Centrifugal Chillers)
Position Summary:
The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the service operations related to centrifugal chillers and other commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. This role ensures customer satisfaction by aligning service operations with the company’s mission, vision, and values. The Service Manager will work closely with Account Managers on sales calls, providing technical expertise while maintaining a strong client-facing presence. Additionally, the role involves recruiting, training, and developing a skilled team of technicians to deliver high-quality service and support.
The Service Manager collaborates with Service Coordinators and sales teams to ensure appropriate technician assignments that meet customer needs efficiently. This position requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to service excellence, with the ability to work independently and be available during extended hours if required. The Service Manager reports to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee service operations for centrifugal chillers and other HVAC systems, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Partner with Account Managers on sales calls, providing technical expertise and supporting business development efforts.
- Recruit, train, and develop service technicians to build a high-performing team.
- Work closely with Service Coordinators to assign technicians based on skill level and job requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate technician performance, providing guidance and coaching as needed.
- Manage service profitability by optimizing processes, controlling costs, and ensuring proper job execution.
- Assist in the performance of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting service issues.
- Act as a liaison between customers, technicians, and sales teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Resolve customer concerns and service issues promptly, maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate service records and generate reports as needed.
Education & Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Vocational or technical school training in HVAC is preferred.
- Relevant industry certifications and licenses are a plus.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of successful experience in the HVAC industry, including service operations.
- Proven leadership experience in managing technicians and service teams.
- Strong technical expertise in centrifugal chillers and commercial/industrial HVAC equipment.
- Experience in client-facing roles, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with sales teams and support business growth.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Technical knowledge of HVAC systems, particularly centrifugal chillers.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
