What are the responsibilities and job description for the INVENTORY SPECIALIST position at - FLH?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Surgical Inventory Specialist serves as a liaison between the Sterile Processing, Perioperative Services and Purchasing departments to assure smooth, uninterrupted daily materials support to the case cart functions and the operating room schedule. WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Typically works weekdays on day shift. May take call. Frequently exposed to infectious diseases that require the following of established protocols and precautionary measures. May be required to wear protective clothing such as gowns, gloves, surgical masks, face shields, and/or goggles. Frequent prolonged periods in a stationary position. Visual acuity required to perform various supply and inspection functions. Must be able to move or position 25 lb. independently.

Central Service Associates, Surgery Associates, Associates who work on the floors, Materials Management Associates.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Strong knowledge of operating room environment, including universal precautions in the perioperative practice setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong working knowledge of information systems, preferably in the health care setting. Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize, and set priorities in routine and/or emergency situations. Demonstrated ability to get along well with others and remain calm in emergent situations. Ability to read, write and understand English. Ability to coordinate several functions simultaneously.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an approved surgical tech and/or certified central service tech program preferred.
Experience:
Two years of related experience in an OR setting required.
