Job Summary FlightWave, a subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill a Composites Technician position. We are a dynamic and growing drone technology company focused on the manufacturing of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations. In this role, you will manufacture and test professional UAV systems, with a focus on composites production. Activities will include composites layup, material preparation, bonded structures assembly, and final product assembly. The ideal candidate will have a background in fiberglass and carbon fiber wet layups. Location Note : The role may start in Santa Monica, but the office is expected to move to the Carson / Long Beach area in Q1 2025. Key Responsibilities Material preparation : Cutting and preparing composite materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, or other reinforcing fabrics. Surface preparation : Cleaning and sanding molds or surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of the composite layers Mold setup : Applying release agents, paint, and other treatments to molds and setting them up according to specifications to ensure proper shaping and curing of the composite. Resin mixing : Mixing resins, hardeners, and other chemicals in precise ratios to create the bonding agents for the composites. Layering materials : Laying up composite materials manually into molds Qualifications 5 years of experience with wet layup composites. Experience with trimming, finishing, and secondary operation for composites. Experience with HLVP air paint spraying, including prep and cleanup techniques. Experience with tool maintenance and manufacturing workplace organization. Experience with preparing documentation for composites procedures. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods, as required by the duties and responsibilities. Adeptness in moving around the office, manufacturing facilities, and other workspaces.
