At Flint Hills Area Transportation Agency (ATA Bus), our Dispatchers are the center of our operations and support our mission: to provide and promote the highest quality transit services to the Flint Hills communities.
Our riders count on aTa Bus to provide safe and reliable public transportation services in Manhattan, Junction City, Ft. Riley, and parts of Pottawatomie County.
We are hiring immediately for a part-time Dispatcher that is friendly, reliable, and customer-service focused. Join our team!
Compensation Range is $14.00 - $17.00/hour (pay is dependent on skills and experience).
Shift Details - (25-30 hours per week, working every other Saturday)
- Week 1 - Monday - Friday 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM
- Week 2 - Monday - Friday 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Saturday 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM
What Our Dispatchers Do:
- Communicates effectively through radio, telephone and computer equipment to provide assistance to Bus Operators and the public.
- Directs and monitors aTa Bus vehicles and routes.
- Communicates traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, and weather conditions.
- Communicates work assignments to Bus Operators and acts as a liaison between Bus Operators and Mechanics.
- Schedule rides and answer questions with regard to the services we provide.
- Manage the software that tracks vehicles.
- Document and maintain files and records.
- Provide information to internal teams.
Our Qualifications:
(You will not be considered for this position without these qualifications)
- High school diploma or equivalent plus four years’ customer service experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Successful candidates will have demonstrated proficiency in computer use, data input speed and accuracy, strong interpersonal, team working and phone skills and an ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Solid organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to details without letting items drop.
- Ability to handle many tasks and keep high standards.
- Effective time management skills.
- Must be self-starter.
Additional Information:
The job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at all times.
